Take Your Child to Work Day...with a Twist

Today was "Take Your Child to Work Day at the boys' school. Last year on this day we soon found out that the boys definitely do not want anything to do with office work, especially accounting :(, but they really enjoyed visiting the jail and playing with the sirens and lights on the police cars.
This year we decided to do something a little different and we took them to their Father's workplace. And let me tell you, the work their Father does is perfect. His artistry is beautiful and you wouldn't believe the creativity He puts into His job!

"God made all sorts of wild animals... And God saw that it was good." Genesis 1:25.

And today, Cody & Caleb saw that it was indeed...good.

Caleb Wins at the Ballpark in Arlington!

Okay...it's the Dr. Pepper Junior Ballpark...but it was still a win and sooo much fun to get to play here! He's a great little ball player, but soooo serious. Check his expression in every picture! He's a Devil Ray, and they played the Rangers tonight and won 15-9. Caleb made 3 hits and several good plays in the field. Way to go Caleb!

They Better be THIS Good

The monstrosity that is the Cowboys new home! Can I be adopted by Jerry Jones???
Seriously, this seems like a little overkill to me...for a team who really hasn't won much lately. But let's keep throwing money at them!

The TAKS Drama

As long as my kids have been alive, they, along with their dad, Uncle Ron, Jeremy, Pawpaw, and Uncle Albert have gone to the Rangers Opening Day at the Ballpark. This is HUGE people...it's one of the few traditions this Pierce family has been able to maintain year after year. Well this year, wouldn't you know that the State of Texas did not even consider the Rangers when they were scheduling the 5th grade Math TAKS test on the sacred OPENING DAY. The nerve! Steve and I had decided that instead of taking Cody out for the day and making him do a makeup, we would let him go and take the test and I would be on red alert to go and pick him up as soon as he was done and deliver him to the others at the Ballpark...hopefully without missing any of the game. The drama was that I actually received a call from Cody's teacher the day before letting me know that her and her co-workers did not think Cody would be able to concentrate on the test because he was so excited about going to the game. I told her I would talk to Steve and we would decide. The more I thought about it the madder I got...realizing that actually the teachers just didn't want anything affecting THEIR scores. Well, I typed up this nice little letter to the teachers letting them know "while we appreciate your concern for Cody, we feel like he is mature enough and focused enough to be able to take the test, do well on it, and still go to the game. If he were not a straight "A" student or made an exemplary grade on the last TAKS...maybe it would be a different story. While the TAKS test is important to us, it is also equally important to us that he continue a family tradition that he has been doing since birth that he will have fond memories of forever." As it turned out, Cody was done with his test by 10:30 and made it to the Ballpark in time for pre-game festivities! Today he found out he passed...we don't know his score yet...but he did pass. Seriously...enough of the TAKS!

New Music Monday

I'm jealous. I'm jealous of people who can write songs...words that inspire, move you...just hit you in the heart. I got Natalie Grant's new CD over the weekend, and omg...I love the song "Back at My Heart." Listen to these lyrics...

"Strong on the outside, but coming apart at the seams, that's me
Tragically always together, but bruised underneath, that's me
I stand just to stumble, tripping on my pride
Why do I always try to hide?

Meanwhile back at my heart
I'm desperate for all that You are
Undo me, take me apart
Meanwhile back at my soul
Mend me, Lord, please make me whole
You know just where to start
Back at my heart, back at my heart."

Sheesh...why can't I do that? Go get this CD...or download it...there's so many great songs on it!

Sunday Happy

Today, I am giddy about:

*I got to go to a baby shower for a little girl...and there are definitely some of the cutest little girl outfits out there ever...and it was fun hangin' with the girls and giggling about silly stuff.
*A bunch of white people sat around and talked "crunk" in our sunday school class this morning...and it cracked me up..."word".
*A missions fire was lit under several women that went with me on the New Orleans missions trip...God is smiling.
*Cody got to take up the offering in church today as part of CrossTrainers...(he said he didn't "collect very much").
*That brownie tonight...mmmm
*The trees and flowers are in bloom at the ranch...and the birds are singing!

It was a happy Sunday...!
